So...It's been a while since our last update.
The summer is going by so fast... we've settled into our new home in Abingdon, VA. We love it here. Our home is larger than our last apartment, which has been wonderful...we now have room for our stuff! We are no longer crowded and surrounded by 50 bazillion things. The animals looove all the room we have (our downstairs is an open floor plan)...they are constantly chasing each other. Buddy has learned that he must have permission to go upstairs (so we have no accidents in the house). And Indy has been enjoying the glass sliding door...he loves basking in the sun and watching the birds/squirrels/etc in the backyard.
Grant is working as a computer programmer and is enjoying it. We have a couple of friends from college and grad school that got jobs at his company. It's been great having old friends up here. (the guys are currently playing poker downstairs).
I'm not working...and enjoying every minute of it. I've actually have had time to cook and really enjoy it...and my house is clean! It's been great to be able to stay home with the animals and take care of the house. Plus I am able to go to the library more. Life has been relaxing and stress free!
Well we will try to update more often...
Blessings,

Home is where...
When I was younger my family always had a plaque that would hang in the front entrance of every house we lived in...it was a beautiful plaque of a house with a white picket fence and a moving truck. On the plaque where the words... "Home is where the Air Force sends us". I grew up knowing that when the Air Force called...we would move wherever we were needed. When I was in 5th grade everything changed...my life as I knew it would be different...and not in a bad way! Home was no longer Where the Air Force sent us...it was Home is where the Lord sends us. And it continues to be where the Lord sends us.
Sometimes I just wish we knew right away where that was...but that's not how it always works. God has a plan for our lives...it's just a little stressful to know that we are moving in less than 60 days and we have no idea exactly where.
As I was writing this Grant burst into the room...he has a call back interview!!!! We're excited...but trying hard not to get our hopes up yet.
God knows I'm a planner...and I think sometimes He has fun knowing this and keeping me on my toes! I'm just grateful that He continues to provide for us and looks after us. He will always be there.
Grant also is speaking at a conference at ASU in mid-April (He is presenting his graduate project...which is really cool...even though I don't quite understand everything). I'm so proud of him!
Well I should be going...we will try to update soon!

Overdue update
The end is in sight. School is almost over, and I'll have my Masters.
We're moving out of this apartment at the end of May, and hopefully moving to an apartment close to wherever I have a job.
I'm anxious to start working, maybe it will actually feel like we've started our lives. Right now it hardly feels different than undergrad.
That's pretty much it, I'll update again whenever I get some good news.

Life...or something like it
This year Grant and I decided to read through the whole Bible...he's reading the Chronological Bible...while I'm reading a Bible for Women (which is laid out as a passage of Old and New Testament, a Proverb and a Psalm). It's exciting to see what the other has learned. I've also been reading a book my momma gave me for Christmas about listening to God's voice and being able to recognize when He's speaking. It has opened my eyes...and has been a wonderful learning experience. I also started reading "A Praying Wife". Throughout our studies we have learned to be specific in prayer and be thankful for everything. When you step back from yourself and look around to see what God has done over the years...weeks...days...hours...and minutes...it's incredibly amazing! We have been blessed.
We aren't sure where we will be after Grant graduates and we have both been praying consistently and almost constantly that God will show us the path He wants us to take and that He will continue to provide for us. We aren't worried...we know He has a plan. We haven't heard back from anyone yet (of course it's only been 2 weeks) so we are still job searching.
A lot has gone on since the last time that we/I wrote. It has been incredibly cold in Boone...not just normal Boone cold...but Insane Boone cold. Grant is back in school and still teaching labs and I am still working at the Chiropractor ( I learned about developing and taking x-rays the other day...kind of cool). God has provided greatly for us...we are enjoying life and can't wait for the next chapter to begin!
Grant should be updating some time soon!

Toccoa Falls College Fire...
www.tfc.edu
Yesterday morning, Gate Cottage at Toccoa Falls College burned to the ground. This is a sad time for our family...it was where Grant and I celebrated our first moments of being a family (our wedding reception). It meant a lot to us. Please pray for TFC. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

Trying to keep up...
This year we are trying to keep up with blogging...
We had a wonderful Christmas. My (LC's) parents came up for the holiday. And Grant's parents came up soon after. We were lucky to be able to spend the holidays with both families. We had a lot of fun with both! Buddy and Indiana enjoyed Christmas a lot. Buddy got a singing dog from my daddy. He absolutely goes nuts when it sings. The cat is somewhat afraid of it. He's probably thinking...great...another dog in the house.
Currently Grant is applying to several jobs all over the U.S. We have no idea where we will be in 5 months...kind of stressful but at the same time really exciting. We can't wait to find out where God's going to take us. Grant's graduating May 9th...it'll be here before we know it!
We have been blessed with time off from school and work to be able to relax together as a family...life is always hectic during the school year. we've actually have had time to cook and keep the house clean...it's crazy.
Well...we should be keeping up with the blog a little better this year.
Keep in touch!

If life were only this easy...
From the movie Eurotrip...
Cooper: [in London, answers his cell phone] Cooper here. Hello Mr. Walters. Uh, yes sir, I'm down in file storage. Oh, just hang on one second.
[lowers phone, picks teeth, puts phone back to ear]
Cooper: No, sir, I can't find the Goodwin file anywhere. Yes sir, I'll keep looking. I don't rest until I find it.
[hangs up]
Scott: You didn't tell your boss you were leaving the country?
Cooper: They would have stopped paying me. Seemed easier.
Later...
Cooper: Hello Mr. Walters... I see... fired? Well, I... Well, if that's what you want, I understand... goodbye, sir.
Scott: They had to catch you eventually.
Cooper: No, they fired Humphrey.
Scott: Shut up!
Cooper: I got his office and a raise!
If life were only that easy. 2008 was a long and difficult year. We lost 5 family members and we had 2 friends lose a parent. Death is never easy to deal with...but we learned a lot about family and friends. And we miss those that we have lost. But they have left us with wonderful memories.
But for the good in the year we also moved into our duplex, got Buddy the Dog and I got a new job as a Chiropractic Assistant. We also had our nephew accept Christ as his Savior.
We have high expectations in 2009...but we realize that is not up to us...but to God. We are excited for what He has planned for us. As Jeremiah 29:11 says " For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Have a Blessed New Year! (We promise to update more...)
